Benefits of Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is gaining increasing traction in the recent years and has proved to improve the efficiency and productivity of companies significantly. Through our experience of implementing Gleematic RPA and talking to our users, we have distilled benefits of using robotic process automation for meet the challenges of modern businesses. (Disclaimer: these observations are based on Gleematic RPA and may be different for other brands of RPA.)

1. Saves time

Process automation enables you to save time on internal processes, such as creating new employee records, processing claims, mass-updating of passwords, etc.
You can also do things for your clients and suppliers with less time and fewer number of employees, such as processing invoices from vendors, updating customers’ records, merging of information from various IT applications for a letter to a customer, etc.

2. Saves Money

The conventional way to make multiple IT applications connect to one another and transfer data seamlessly requires APIs and SDKs (the “secret sauce”) of these applications to do “integration”. However, purchasing these APIs or SDKs for these proprietary IT applications will likely be costly, especially if you’d like to integrate with large enterprise solutions such as ERP systems. This method will also require large teams of highly-skilled programmers/ engineers to configure the connections between multiple IT applications.

By using Robotic Process Automation such as Gleematic, you can make multiple IT applications talk to one another without the APIs / SDKs. Implementation can be done easily by mimicking the mouse clicks and keyboard strokes, rather than requiring complicated coding/ programming.
This means that you don’t have to spend large amounts of money to purchase APIs/ SDKs, and you don’t have to hire a large team or outsource to a large team of specialist for your projects.

3. Boost in employee satisfaction

With RPA, employees can give attention to more important tasks as opposed to putting their time, into mundane and repetitive tasks such as updating of information into several databases.

Being able to devote more time for activities which are more valuable for the businesses, employees can have a better sense of job satisfaction. They can focus on tasks that humans do best – such as planning, creative brainstorming for new ideas, speaking to a customer and convincing him to buy more products, etc.

4. Flexible

One of RPA’s strongest points is that it can use the same IT systems as your FTE (full-time employees)– minus the complicated integration with all applications. This technology can also be adjusted based on requirements.

5. Reliable

As RPA is a robot, it does not get sick, tired, or bored. Moreover, you can make it record the activities it has completed so that you can track the work easily.

6. High quality and accurate

As humans tend to experience fatigue, they may forget things and allow a certain level of carelessness and mistakes. The human factor can turn out to be catastrophic for business, because of the possibility of distorting the data.

After you teach the steps of a specified process to a RPA robot, it can perform the tasks with high level of accuracy, unlike humans who might make errors, especially when volume of transactions increase.

7. Higher productivity

The RPA robots can work 24-hours a day, seven days a week. This means that you can get work done even after your living, breathing employees have retired to bed. It allows for more work to be done per employee, thus enhancing the productivity significantly.
The scripts created in Gleematic RPA can be broken down into smaller modules, when can then be re-used for multiple processes. This again increases productivity as you don’t have to create every new script from scratch.

8. Fulfils regulatory compliance

RPA robots can follow the steps exactly as required as per government regulations. These software robots also won’t skip steps, so you can be sure of compliance for your processes.
